David Sparling, MD, PhD
Principal InvestigatorDr. Sparling graduated with an MD/PhD at the University of Oklahoma in 2009, and completed his pediatrics residency and a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at the New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital and the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2015. He returned to OU and is now an Associate Professor and Section Chief of Pediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology at the OU Health College of Medicine, and is a member of the OU Health Harold Hamm Diabetes Center. He has a special clinical interest in type 1 diabetes mellitus, and his research focuses both on diagnosis and management of children with type 1 diabetes as the site primary investigator for TrialNet, while maintaining a basic science lab focused characterization on a novel adipokine.
