Join us on the Pathway to Prevention

Thousands of families have participated in the Pathway to Prevention Study, which is a TrialNet type 1 diabetes risk screening program. If you have a relative with T1D, you're in a unique position to help us learn more about the disease and how to prevent it. Risk screening uses a simple blood test that can detect your risk of T1D years before symptoms appear. Take the first step and get screened.

1. Sign Up!

TrialNet risk screening is free for relatives of people with T1D: ages 2–45 with a first-degree relative or ages 2–20 with a second-degree relative. Answer a few quick questions to check your eligibility.

2. Get Screened!

Choose the screening option that’s right for you. You can order an in-home test, order a test kit to take to a local lab, or visit one of our many TrialNet locations– all at no cost to you.

3. Your Results

You will receive your screening results in 4-6 weeks. If your results show you are in the early stages of T1D, we will schedule a follow-up visit to see if you are eligible for a prevention study.
